There are numerous classes of chemicals in our environment -- pesticides (insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides, herbicides, etc.), solvents, cleaning chemicals, industrial chemicals, flame retardants, stain and oil repellants, and chemicals in plastics. And that is the very short list. There are well over 80,000 chemicals currently in our environment -- AND in our bodies. The amount of chemicals in our bodies has become so pervasive, that there is now a phrase to describe it -- body burden. Below are some links to articles that provide an introduction to our body burden -- the kinds of chemicals we have in our bodies and their effects.
