This page offers tips for farming and gardening without toxic chemicals.
For vibrant, organic fruits and vegetables, start with untreated, non-GMO seeds or seedlings. Many conventional farmers first treat seeds with a toxic fungicide prior to planting. That is unnecessary if the soil is healthy - containing the microbes, earthworms, and other lifeforms that provide the symbiotic relationship that makes for a happy garden. There are several online companies that offer heirloom and organic seeds. Many of these also provide gardening tips, such as companion planting and non-toxic pesticide alternatives. I am most familiar with Seeds of Change but there are many other viable companies, as well.
I've been having good luck with my own chemical free pesticide. To 1 quart of water I add 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (tabasco type) and 1 teaspoon Epsom salts. I have to spray once or twice a week but it's working to keep the bugs away and the epsom salt is also a nutrient for the plants that encourages flowering.
